There is a massive set of game changes coming to StarCraft within the next month. I wanted to give you the heads up, so you know what to expect and can discuss what is coming. -Conditions: There will not be a list of common conditions, or debuffs as they are commonly known, in the Core Rules of the StarCraft rulebook. These conditions will include things like Melting, Burning, Blinded, Hidden, Cloaked, Crushed, Restrained, and so on. This will make the game more streamlined and easy to find what various effects do. -Poison is changing again. The Endurance DC for all poison effects is going up, while the damage is going down by about 1/3. However, poison will ignore all damage resistance now -Ghosts are going to be gaining the Jaded talent by base, both for fluff reasons and to balance ghosts without neural implants (coming in Supplement 2). -Master Specializations are all getting slight nerfs. They are too powerful right now. -Many psionic powers are getting vastly increased energy fatigue costs. Telekinetic powers are looking at increasing by about 4 energy fatigue, telepathy powers about 2, and energy powers are still being looked at. -Many area of effect energy powers are going to be less epic but more usable, having vastly decreased area of effects. -The Endless Energy chain of talents are getting additional requirements to make them harder to get. Each talent tier will cost more ranks of both Psionics and Mental Training. -Zerg Evolution powers will gain an accuracy bonus equal to full Instinct (rather than half instinct). However, there will be ways to break out of their crowd control effects once applied. -Vehicles are getting universally improved. Now, all vehicles with a structure rating of 5-9 will have tier 2 weapons and armor base. Vehicles with a structure rating of 10+ will have tier 3 weapons and armor. This is so vehicles can more closely compete with characters and creatures of higher levels that have higher tier equipment. -Creature natural weapons, such as claw, bash, and bite attacks, are getting vastly improved to match other race’s weapons. -Creature Types for NPCs are becoming vastly improved, so that creatures can compare to all the benefits that players have gotten over the past few months. Hopefully, this will be the last thing matter to power creep, then everything will be equivalent again. There is more coming, but these are the major highlights. I wanted everyone to see them, give me their thoughts, and be prepared for what is coming.

Hey everyone. I want to have a brainstorming session on character development. Specifically, protoss characters. Int the past, I've never been worried about protoss characters being 'under tuned'. Them being too powerful has always been the concern. However, I have been making lots of NPCs and test characters recently, and have found some room for alarm with high level protoss. There has undoubtedly been a little power creep the last few months in regards to PCs. This isn't unintentional; I've been wanting higher level characters to be able to make a bigger impact in the game, and be less of a wind-shield splatter against the levels 20+ creatures and vehicles. Terrans have received a massive number of additional specializations, including the very powerful master specializations. More recently, infested terrans gain directives as the level up as well. Terran are getting a ton of new options in the nearly-completed Advanced Terran Training Manual, and there is early work on Advanced Directives for the ITs in the next zerg book. But what about protoss? Protoss gain next-to-no skill focuses, lack weapon and armor upgrades, and have a static number of augmentation crystals they can benefit from. They recently received their first few renown classes in Dominion Intel Briefing, but these classes are not exactly super-powered compared to their regular classes (just new options). What protoss do have, however, is overwhelming psionic power. This has always been what they have fallen back on. However, now terrans and zerg are catching up in psionic prowess. Terrans will have no rules for ghost characters, heavy psionic specializations of all kinds, and spectre rules. It is now easier to get an infested terran with extreme psionic prowess with the directive change, and that is BEFORE the advanced directives. With all that, what leg to the protoss have to stand on? Granted, protoss still do have A LOT of power from their classes. I don't want to imply that they are just bad right now. They are certainly not. But could they stand to be better. The change I am proposing is to give protoss skill focuses once they complete a class. Whenever a class is finished, the character will be given a choice of a skill focus between 3-4 skills important to the class. For example, finishing Psychic Warrior might give you the option of a skill focus in Defensive Training, Durability, or Melee. This allows protoss characters to have numbers closer to match those that terrans have, while allowing terrans to still be the overall masters of skill focus. What are your thoughts? Good idea or bad? Discuss!
